Can I change the colour of my QR code?
The QR codes generated in Say I do can’t be customised within the Say I do app.
The reason is that QR code scanners depend on strong contrast (usually black on white) to work reliably. If the colours are changed, the contrast may be reduced, and your guests’ phones may not be able to scan the code correctly. Scanning ability varies wildly based on device, camera, app, environment lighting, and even how clean or dirty the lens of the camera is.
While we do not officially support it, if you’d like to style the QR code differently, you can export the QR image and edit it using an external image editor (like Photoshop, Canva, or similar). Just keep in mind:
- We can’t guarantee the QR code will scan properly if the colours are changed.
- Since this feature isn’t supported in the app, we’re unable to provide troubleshooting if you edit the QR code outside Say I Do.
To ensure your guests have no issues on the day, we recommend using the default high-contrast version.
